ABSTRACT

One of Rob Kling’s goals in establishing the Center for Social Informatics at Indiana University Bloomington circa 1996 was to create an educational center for students interested in the fledgling interdisciplinary field. While his unexpected death in 2003 slowed this effort, Kling’s legacy lives on in the many IUB faculty who knew and worked with him or who were inspired by his work. And they are eager to share their passion with students at IUB.

All interested students are welcome to join us for a lively, interactive round table discussion on “Opportunities in Social Informatics.” Facilitating the discussion will be IUB faculty members, Noriko Hara, Kalpana Shankar, and Hamid Ekbia. Please come prepared to discuss your own interest in the field, ask questions, and help chart a course for the future.
