RKCSI Student Fellow: Muhammad Abdul-Mageed
Muhammad came to Indiana University Bloomington last summer from Egypt with a solid background in Linguistics. He is currently enrolled in the doctoral program in Linguistics. His primary research interests are in sociolinguistics and computer-mediated communication, which he approaches from a broadly interdisciplinary perspective. He is minoring in Information Science, has taken courses in Education, and recently applied for the doctoral program in Near Eastern Languages and Cultures, with the plan to pursue a double doctorate. He has research interests in online news sites, and has conducted a study of the Al Jazeera sites in both Arabic and English, which he has submitted to an international conference, Cultural Attitudes Toward Technology and Communication (CATaC).
