RKCSI Student Fellow: Santosh Vijaykumar

Santosh Vijaykumar, MA is a doctoral student at the Saint Louis University of Public Health. His primary research interests include studying the application of information, communication technologies (ICTs) in international health, sociological effects of ICTs, information quality in health websites, online social networking among health workers and behavior change communication. Under the mentorship of Dr. Ricardo Wray, he is presently working on his doctoral dissertation that attempts to explore new theoretical approaches to the study of ICT’s effects on health empowerment in the back drop of online health social movements.
Prior to his taking up his Ph.D., Santosh worked as a consultant with the Asia Division & the INFO Project at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health/ Center for Communication Programs. His work included programmatic and evaluation assistance for family planning, reproductive health and HIV/AIDS programs in India, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Vietnam. He arrived in the U.S. in 2002, after 5 years as a journalist in Mumbai, India.
